Abenaki Warsong ( white sky )
Hello, i am in need of some help. One of my favorite songs is the Abenaki Warsong or its also know as white sky and i would love to have a recording of it if anyone has one to share.

i may be wrong,but i'd wager that the song is something thats been made up in recent years...i am Abenaki and i know 20 years ago there were very few people who spoke Abenaki and ive never heard a song that was "old"(in fact,i personally have never heard a song that was an Abenaki song)...you might try asking whomever you heard it from...i am curious why you asked your question in a southern singing thread...lol.we are from about as far north in the US as one can get...

well it has other names.... like white ski.... and im not sure of others.... but ..... i didnt know where to post it other then in a music forum.
and i looked up the abenaki online.... an im not sure if i know any abenaki.. the person i heard it from told me the name and i cant find it.

Well there you have it! White Sky on youtube to listen to over-and-over to your hearts content. Just remember to say the "Hey Cha!" "Wooh ooh!" "Hah Cha!" "OOOOH!" and WooooH!" in proper order..... or it won't be authentic!!

This song has been a staple at nearly every New England powwow for years and years. There are several different drum groups who love to sing this song. You should hear it when a bunch of women sing and shake rattles, it really adds to the ha-chas. I have no idea if its an Abenaki song. Is that who we can blame for it? Just kidding...
