a good head singer can take care of a dance by themselves....gourd dance, buffalo dance, snake dance, war dance.....etc.....and no repeats......you might show up and be the only on out there in the middle

Besides knowledge, a head singer should have enough leadership capability and respect to attract and keep a good core group at the drum.

I have seen greediness a lot....

then I've seen the head singer not take a dime, and give it all to the singers..expecting the committee to take care of them...
haha and then get nuthing still...but hey money isn't why we do it right?

Now that we are on that...

But perhaps if you DON'T bring your own drum....n someone else does, you save a little aside for them. and the ad's....everytime they sell a blanket...you give them a cut...and the women get a cut too....everyone agree with this?

I generally agree with this. However, I've seen instances where newer singers sit down and they do their best, but they just aren't able to contribute as much as others. So I think it's ok to not be exactly equal. Pay those who lead more songs a little something extra and those that are just there to help out a little less is my opinion. I think I know a few songs but I really struggle with finding songs, especially the right song. I think I'm ok help (at least out here on the east coast) in that once I hear the lead I'm generally pretty good at knowing the song and singing hard. So I'm ok getting not as much as those folks who have the touch of finding the perfect song for the perfect time.

But I do agree, I don't like seeing the head singer taking more than he gives as he should be being paid by the committee IMHO.

if you don't sing, you don't get paid! this is 2008 and darn near no one goes out to the center drum for the right reasons, so, quit gawkin' as if you've never seen anyone sing hard and mean it. and don't be trying to look or act "someway" when you don't get your 3 dollars, if you don't SING, you don't get paid! forget that paying everyone buisness, gas is $4.00 a gallon. and what about all those women that just sit there and don't make a sound, do they get paid too, i say no, they are at the same scrutiny as the men. sing=pay, sing! dammit! sing! i know there are some songs that those women may not know, but, dam, does there have to be 30 ladies around the drum not knowin', "aayyyummmm"!
