mystery 2step?
So today at practice Trevor brought up a new song.
a 2 step that we absolutly LOVED! thing is, we dont know who its by, or where we might be able to get the CD. i'm not 100% on the words, but if i remember right, they went something like. "I'll sing you southern songs, and i'll hold you all night long. please baby take my hand, and I'll be your southern man." if anyone could give me any information on this it would be extremely helpful. Best Wishes, Walking Bear Singers ~ Greenville, NH |

Meta, This is a round dance song composed either by Cheevers Toppah or Alex Smith. I saw it recently on YouTube. I noticed you have a drum in NH? One of my friends was in NH last weekend filming a documentary for PBS. This six-part documentary will be about Indian Sovereignty. The segment that he was in was originally supposed to be taking place in a Georgia winter. It was meant to simulate the Cherokee Trail of Tears. This documentary will be out next year. Do you attend Dartmouth Powwow?

Thank you. we were told its a two-step, but people make mistakes.
yes we have a drum in NH, and yes, some of us go up to Dartmouth to dance, but not to sing. we do a lot of powwows in MA. our schedule is available by request. also, if you could possible give me the link to that on YouTube that would be amazing. thank you. Actually that song is a round dance that can also be used during a two-step. I have been to the Dartmouth Powwow with three different drums. The crazyest thing happened to me at a Dartmouth Powwow. I just composed a fancy dance song and I was in a tie in the fancy dance where my drum sang for my contest ... and I overstepped!!! uh, anyway.. you had to be there... I am not sure how to find that link. I just found it while link surfing. Anyway Cheevers, Alex and Kit Landry were singing it on YouTube during a handdrum contest.

oh my gosh, the two of you are simply amazing. honestly, that song has been stuck in our heads since we heard it at practice. and i simply love it.
as for dartmouth....we were there last year and we saw some old friends and yeah, we used to dance together, so my friend allie and i went out to dance and i was doing fancy dance and some little kid came out behind me and i just totally fell, yeah, one of those things that you have to be there. but thanks for the help, the two of you are the best! |
