Sore / Dry Throat

Ok, all you singing experts out there, what ya'll use to keep them vocals sounding smooth and purdy?

Here's some of what I've seen or been told, any comments or anything else to think about?

Halls
Lemons/Lemon juice
Flag root
Hot/Warm fluids (coffee generally)
Cold fluids (cold water, pop, etc)
Fisherman's Friend

What else works for you?

I use halls icy blue and coffee. I pop a new halls in right after the breaks before each new set of songs or before we contest at contest powwows.

Coffee and halls prolongs my voice from getting hoarse while singing hard.

I have seen singers drink that Buckleys Mixture, its bad enough when you are sick, but geez to sing

Food/Grease, water..bubble gum..not chewing gum..bubble gum(bubblicious) good ole fashioned meat pie..keep sumthin in ya stomach

Water is all you need, sip between songs.

Buckley's works aa well as halls and coffee.

I read a few articles on like how singers like Beyonce' go to throat specialists all the time, so you should take some of your powwow winnings and buy "Throat Insurance" as well as see specialists.

Any syrups are the worst.

A thirty pack of bud light, or a pint of Jim Beam!

It's a cigarette, a diet coke, or a regular coke for me.

Cough drops don't do much cept keep my mouth wet.....so, I dont' bother with them.

Course, I hold to the fact that eating something also is beneficial. I also prefer to sing on a full stomach, for some odd reason, I can project more and I seem to do alot better with a gut full of food.

I hate long breaks though.....sitting and waiting to sing is the pits.

Flag root and warm liquids, not sugar.

cough drops make you feel better but it only coats your throat and you end up blowing out sooner.

Keep it all natural. best bet.

Ya plus if you are going to use cough drops, make sure you get the sugar free kind. All my SAYHGS n COHNS have no teeth to back up this theory!!

Yea i like Fishermans Friend and Sugar Free Halls, and Hot Beef Stew wit some Greezy Frybread.
But my fren told me last year at this pow-wow this drum group was dippin Vicks down their throat and gaggin around!! Gawt dang! now thats crazy
But I guess it worked cuz he said they was skyin around after that

what also works is if you go teepee creepin....aint nothing like momma to take care of you so you can take care of bizness!!!....
