Treaty Songs

Has anybody heard of specific songs made for treaties? I have heard the Pawnee have one. I need to do some checking.

Anybody else heard of this?

Hmmmm..... goot question. It seems like I've heard of a Lakota treaty song - maybe for the 1868 Ft Laramie treaty? You'd be able to find out info on that easier than I could....

The closest thing down south that I can think of where I've actually heard the song (rather than just a 2nd hand rumor that such-and-such song that rarely gets sung talks about this or that treaty) is the Comanche (? not to dis the Kiowas if yall got a claim to this song...) Adobe Walls song. Not really a treaty song, but kinda in the same vein.....

The Adobe Walls song commemorates the Battle of Adobe Walls, that took place in the panhandle of Texas. It has a real antiquated sound to it.

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone else.

WhoMe, This is an interesting question. I've had a similar wonder of my own, although I've wondered if there have been songs written for US President's? Are any of them (if they exist) sung much anymore?

So...if I'm hearing you correctly...these Treaty Songs are different than Vet Songs?...Or quite possibly sang for a Vet Dance?

Are there any songs out there about 9/11 or Osama?

Well technically theres a few hundred Adobe Walls songs...One specific for that event...but a lot of round dances, were sang on that journey back from the massacre...but originally had the single beat tempo.....ud be suprised which ones that we still sing today...no clue about the treaties though

I think the only thing someone would honestly compose a song about Bush would be a `9.

WhoMe...we'll put you in charge of that...I'll get the cardboard box full of full aluminum cans for you next time I see you. This way we can put it into motion.

lol...
