wut do u guyz think about cuttin and pastin old songs to make new ones. cuz its hard to come up with a new one that dosent sound remotley close to sum1 elses.

First off, I'd be highly shocked if you were a day over 16. If you are, I feel sorry for you.

Secondly, don't even bring respectable people like Berky and Neil into this idiotic conversation about pasting songs together. Those two guys are good singers and come from a very respected family in OKLAHOMA. That was my point. You are from GA.

Thirdly, yes I do sing northern, and I'd be eager, very eager, for you to tell me how it's easier to singer northern than southern.

Lastly, if you're going to take offense at our opinions, why did you ask in the first place? Why didn't you just jack some songs (without permission no doubt), cut them up, paste them back together and call them your own? Apparently that is what you're going to do anyways.

As far as your "burning" me...we'll see who's burnt if you go to Oklahoma or Gatherings with your chopped up version of someone else's songs.

Man, things are changing. People seeking personal glory and contest wins seem to be more and more. Hopefully there are still some of us left who just enjoy singing.

Well, let me take this time to fill up your afternoon - it might take you a while to feel the effect.

Don't feel sorry for me as my life is respectably full including our rights to songs coming from our relatives in Oklahoma. Can you say Antelope? Let's don't even get to the society songs. My intention was not to name drop for the sake of it but to bring variety into a possibly boring conversation. You must be seriously archaeic to think folks REMAIN in Oklahoma forever. If you ever do come to Ga, not only will you be surprised but probably not as welcome as you might have expected to be.

Is it not possible in the scheme of all greater things, ideas outside of the box we are put in by society are where great ideas are born? Cut & Paste is a simple syntax and as old as the earth since there was only one beginning. Everything from one is a cut and paste whether by sound or word. You shouldn't take life so literally. It is you who we need to be sorry for.

As for Northern, some of you guys don't have a clue as to how a southern song should flow. If however, you are one who understands slow melodic beautiful notes, then perhaps you are indeed rare. If this is true, my sincerest apologies.

In regards to impact of opinions, if you were providing an opinion and not a stereotypical remark, one might consider it's contents.

In regards, to the powwow trail, I'm sure you'll see us around -- be sure to watch The Gathering next year. It's not about personal glory, it's about respect. It's about unification, progression and moving forward. Perhaps we should turn around and help you along.

Oh and by the way, I wasn't saying it was easier to sing northern, I was referring to making a song.

Don't be so literal huh? So now you're backtracking? Just face it...your first post was that you were going to take song A and song B and "compose" song C and call it your own. Now you're talking about the great scheme of things in life. Give me a break.

Let me quote you also...you said in your earlier post "easier to jam out a northern tune than a southern." Maybe I'm behind the times on the slang, but I've always thought "jam out" or "to jam" meant to sing a song, not compose one. If I am mistaken and missed your point, sorry about that.

My main point is let songs come to you or compose them when you're asked. Don't piece together other's songs just to record an album or sing at Gathering. And if I'm not welcome in Georgia, my heart will simply break.

Ok, here we go. I'm not backtracking, one has to start somewhere when introducing concept, yeah maybe this is also a bit difficult for you to understand. Perhaps you and I just can't communicate. Seems so and you get your breaks somewhere else.

Finally, the objective is indeed to have a finished product enjoyable by singers and dancers alike that includes ones own identity as well as the nature of those songs which have left presence or impact on us before. If debate or discussion has parameters on content then why bother to experient -- gee I guess the music industry should just stop since we could just repeat until the end of time.

And.... should you miss Georgia, your heart simply should break.

You're suggestion of taking bits of songs of different drums and mixing it for your own sound is NOT cool. You obviously know NOTHING about writing/singing songs and quite frankly are coming off as a really disrespectful person. My advice to you is to step back and really look at what you're suggesting.
