As i sit here and think of the last 100 years of the LUMBEE struggle for our indian rights and our homeland,reservation... Yes I am jealous of other Indian Nations that have a reservation and the right to be called a Nation of (( AMERICAN INDIANS )) We LUMBEES have some of the smartist Lawyers,judges and civil workers in America, these are the people that represent us in congress.Not once have our Leaders mention OUR need for a reservation,land.... Befor a Constitution was written and a tribal council was elected the Issue of LAND was the first priorty. After the issue of a reservation is resolved THEN a LUMBEE CONSTITUTION is to be written and a tribal council voted in. But here in our tribe,they wrote a LUMBEE CONSTITUTION and ELECTED A TRIBAL COUNCIL AND SUPREME COURT,,WITHOUT A REZ, WITHOUR LAND TO GOVERN... First of all, let me say that I don't usually respond to Idiot ramblings on here, but I had to make an exception in this case.

You obviously have no respect for our people at all. If you did you would not be on here preaching about needing a reservation to make us Indian. I don't now nor have I ever wanted a reservation. I know where my homeland is. I know where my grandparents and great-grandparents were born and burried. That's my homeland. That's where my Indianness comes from. Not a piece of land that the federal government has declared.

Have you ever thought about what a reservation is? I own my land, not the government. I don't have to follow federal guidelines as to what I can do with my land.

I think YOUR"RE the one missing the point. If you feel you need a reservation to truely be validated as an Indian then you have some serious personal issues to deal with. The tribal government, supreme court, etc, that's not what makes you Indian. What makes you Indian, what makes us Lumbee, is who we are, where we come from, what's been taught to us and passed down, it's what's in your heart.

I'll probably be blasted for saying this, but I really don't care if we ever get recognition. I don't need the government telling me who I am or where I come from. I have known that my entire life.

Well i really don't want to do this.... But please i must ask from everyone to not take to heart words from a mans mouth that speaks to fill his balloon...

It is very obvious this guy knows nothing about powwow singing or powwows for that matter. I haven't gone to his site and probly won't... if his music is music to him then so be it... because i know who, what, when, and why i sing. and so do most people that attend powwows... How can someone understand the words in a song if there is no words... its called traditional or original. i call it music to my ears... its also obvious that he has never made a tradish drum... or powwow drum... with all his fine tuning... so what note should a drum be tuned to... I travel all over the country going to powwows... We sing word songs as well as straight(songs with no words... or maybe u might understand LA La LA) But i do understand what the words we sing...

as for your other question... a reservation... be for real... if u live in Robeson county that should be plenty rez enough for ya... as for me.. i don't need a piece of land to say i am indian... or want a rez for that matter... our tribe covers 5 connecting counties.... forget a rez we want the east coast... HAHAHAH.....

One more thing........My brothers sing with Stoney Creek. The next time you happen to see them at a powwow, I would love for you to share your ideas and opinions about powwow drums,songs, meanings, etc. with them. I would be really, really interested in what their reactions / responses would be.

After the issue of a reservation is resolved THEN a LUMBEE CONSTITUTION is to be written and a tribal council voted in. But here in our tribe,they wrote a LUMBEE CONSTITUTION and ELECTED A TRIBAL COUNCIL AND SUPREME COURT,,WITHOUT A REZ, WITHOUR LAND TO GOVERN... What give the rest of the INDIAN NATIONS THE RIGHT TO HAVE THESE THINGS AND THE LUMBEE NATION NOT,,WE HAVE TO STAND TO THE SIDE AND BEG TO BE A PART OF THE MANY NATION OF INDIANS.SO FREAKS MAYBE IT WILL TAKE A IDIOT TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE BECAUSE THE BEST OF OUR PEOPLE LAWYER AND SUCH HAS FAILD FOR THE LAST 100 YEARS.,,,,,We know other tribes will not help us in our struggle because they are afraid to stand up with us and use only our mouths a weapons to get our LUMBEE INDAIN rights. You people talk like you are for the Lumbees but the truth is you are afraid to get involved in the Lumbee fight for our homeland.
