A LOT, I mean A LOT of Oklahoma's famous singers, learned how to sing at 49's before they even thought of coming to the "big drum" at powwows.

Foxy Creek: the annual Sac & Fox powwow in Stroud has one of the biggest and best 49's in all of Indian country. It is one of the reasons the Sac & Fox powwow is so successful!

i agree with foxy
nothin good ever comes out of a 49 but alot of indians that need to go to A.A meedings., It makes us indians look BAD and the hard working indians that don't pay for-it,. IT just shows that we as indian people need to wake up and quite being idiots i quite 49'n about five years ago and i stop befor it was too late

not all ndns that go to 49's drink..some go to socialize with family and friends and listen to good music. so dont call anyone idiots because they like to enjoy themselves...look in the mirror and say that to urself for judging us as a whole..ur no different then non-natives...u r a stereotypin pig!

I think you should specify exactly what you mean...do you mean the alcohol? Then say "ban alcohol" at 49's...not the whole thing. THere are alot of us who go to socialize and listen to the songs.:p
