May I pose this question to you (anybody for that matter...just something to chew on...b/c I would like to know what others think as well)? How is a person suppose to act/behave when they've grown up in an area totally different than their own? Where the only life they've known is not of their natural ancestry!

My guess is "No this does not make them like others in the area they've grown up in." Ultimately, these people will always be genetically what they are. However, we as human beings are products of our environments.

So does that make someone who is genetically non-indian that participates in our culture a ________________? (you fill in the blank...boyscout, hobbyist, fraud, etc)

I know theres is more to than just this. I just don't have the time to post more ideas.

p.s.

And from what I've heard, they can hold their own

Ok, I've sang with them also, I was trying to see where Redcorn was going with this. They are white, and don't try to present themselves as anything they are not. The head singer was adopted in to a Kiowa family out west, as well as many of the guys he sings with. Some of them have sang with Zotighs and others. They have learned the right way to do things. And, Yes, they can hold their own at a powwow, matter of fact, they can down right jam when the voices are fresh, or have a second drum to give em a rest at dances.

I am Indian, a singer, dancer and have powwowed in 39 states with the best of them.
