Midnite is not the only one to do this (switch up stylez) and I dont think its that much of a trend...it just comes down to who can be versatile singers and know what they're doing. Singers will always do what they can, and its kinda cool seeing/hearing em' sing out of their regular domain (sometimez) LOL.

Sorry ndnL:

I gotta disagree with you on this one.

Go back 40 years when there wasn't much integration between Southern and Northern singing, like there is today. Back then you would hear drums sticking to their own tribal songs. No way a group of Ojibways would even think of singing Lakota songs Or Poncas singing Comanche songs.

It IS a Trend.

And things will continue to evolve away from tradition. . .

whatever "tradition" happens to mean in the year 2004? *L

I do know that Rising Hail from Marty, SD had a number of Southern songs that could've been Winnebago but I'm not sure.

If you can sing it... SING IT

It is up to that drum group to do what they want to do at a dance (within reason). If you can sing it....Sing IT.

yea

midnites new cd rox!! but newayz a drum is there to make the dancers dance. thas it. so if u can be a switch hitter go for it as long as u make it feel good. the way i wus taught wus those spirits are inside that drum and when ur singin ur wakin them up and if ur singin and ur soundin good them spirits come out and dance on that drum. thas those songs that are wicked and feel good. but yea midnite singin southern?? i gotta hear this one. i kinda figured ronald and anthony and kelly could sing northern since they get up there anyway. plus i seen them sing with midnite b4. but midnite aint the first to do it. if i recall northern cree second song dancers choice i no theres a couple plus one of their newest ones rezonate has one on there.
