Flag Song
I'm looking for a recording of a Southern Flag Song. .something good for a young drum group, just starting out. Not to mention a gentle range seeing we have both Male and female members singing the same part. I know there might be controversy for that, but honestly as a girl, I can't sing the octave above, and I'm the head singer of the drum. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

We aren't going to sing at any pow wows as of yet, We aren't even close to ready.
Thanx Billyjoejimbob, I just have one question for you, which four winds? The original four winds was made of about 4 guys, the head singer, is now the mc at a local pow wow down on long island, and another one of it's members is helping our drum out. I've seen the current four winds up At Spencer and Springfield pow wows. . . Hoopster

Thanx, Would this also be true, even if I wasn't leading the drum, but Singing and drumming with them?
I'm not out there to offend anyone, and not being native, I'd like to learn. Learning to dance and this culture, is the best thing that ever happened to me. Hoopster

Uhhh ya might have a little controversy lets say at almost every legit powwow you go to. First off ya head of a mixed drum and second your a white girl, atleast you admit it. I guess we all pick out battles and I think you've picked a big one to try an win.

I am not trying to be disrespectful but let me give a few words of advice. Women DO NOT swing a drum stick at a southern drum. Most of the 'southern' ladies I know will not even touch the drum or drum sticks or anything else having to do the drum. The ladies sit in a second row behind the men and they sing from there. There are no female Southern drum head singers besides yourself that I have ever even heard of much less seen. I for one would not want to be at the first powwow you show up and try and sing at, cause the southern plains old men and women there are liable to get flat ugly on you and your group. I have seen ladies sitting at northern drums swinging a stick and singing with the men, but I have also seen respected southern drums protest to the committee or just get up and leave when a drum like this shows up at a dance. I've become interested in your culture, when my brother did, in a venture crew in New York. The people were so accepting, I felt right at home. I've even been taught to hoop, by the guys, and the Blackfoot advisor gave me the nickname hoopster, and I proved to be better than some of the guys. I don't mean to do you're culture wrong, just to take part of it. I hoop not to prove anything in woman's rights, not to look cool, but because I love to hoop, I can't explain it, I love to hoop. . .and I love to sing and drum. I don't mean to offend anyone. All I wish to do, is learn
