hey, who's going to be in saratoga at the end of the month? i hear this thing is going to bring THE BEST smoke dancers there are! everyone i've talked to can't wait. what do you think?

i think it's going to be like the strawberry festival at kanatsiohareke only on a much bigger scale. joanne shenandoah, bill miller, al george, tom sakokwenionkwas porter, joseph bruchac, perry ground, ken maracle, the silvercloud singers, old bridge singers among others will be there. check out the web site...

if i were you i'd still try to get advanced tickets. they're 10 bucks. ndakinna education center has the advance tickets. the weekend charge for spac is 20 so if you wait till you get at the door, you'll have to pay the 20. and that's only for one day.

Sounds pretty cool, wish I could go, I'm so broke. I only made it Denver March and Gathering, how sad, I mean live in Denver so its not like it was hard to get to Denver March, and Gathering is in NM so that wasn't too far either. I haven't gone anywhere back east in so long, I really want to though, hopefully soon.

I am organizing the Saratoga Native American Festival - and just got this e-mail:

"I was looking around on your website, and I was wondering if, as a dancer, would I only be allowed to dance in either exhibition Pow Wow style OR Smoke Dance. I do dance both, and I do have two different style outfits for them.... If you could let me know if it would be possible to dance both, I would really appreciate that. There are a few folks the would also like to know. What would be great if you could do it, would be to go to powwows.com in Smoke Dance Forum and post all the info under the thread thats been started for this event. Everyone would be able to check it out then!"

Thought I'd pop in and let folks know the specifics! The short answer is yes - folks can register for day money categories (see our web site for details: www.saratoganativefestival.org) and register for the Smoke Dance Competition. Unfortunately, due to the size of the event, day money will not be available for social dancing. Feel free to e-mail me (mark@ndcenter.org) or call the Ndakinna Education Center (518-583-9958) if you have any questions.

well everyone, the festival was fantastic! especially for it's first time. thousands of people showed up. i opted not to go on sunday because of the rain, but i heard that didn't stop most people. not sure who won the compititions though. can't wait til next time around!
