Coleslaw

Now that they sell shredded cabbage in the little baggies, it's a snap to make your own coleslaw.

I was following a "clone" recipe for KFC coleslaw but tweaked it to fit my taste.

1 bag shredded cabbage (can mince it finer if you'd like)
or 1 small head cabbage, sliced thin or shredded

1/2 cup mayonaisse (as much as I love Miracle Whip it doesn't work here)
1/4 - 1/2 cup milk (depending on how much moisture the cabbage has or how liquidy you like your coleslaw)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/3 cup sugar (or equivalent amount of Splenda)
1 tablespoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seed

Mix all ingredients together except cabbage. When thoroughly combined, mix in cabbage. Refrigerate at least one hour.

If you like other ingredient in your coleslaw like shredded carrots or purple cabbage - feel free to add and tweak to your heart's desire!

I have leftovers so lunch is ANYTIME!! Gonna have this with some Angus burgers mixed with roasted onions and steak fries. Hurry up before it's all gone!

Anybody know how to make ambrosia salad?

my daughter loves the stuff and I have no clue how to make it! I hate googling it because there are so many variations...I just need a simple recipe.

Uh....canned, drained fruit cocktail and Cool Whip????

If you're feeling creative you can add mini marshmallows, canned drained mandarin oranges, sliced banana, pineapple chunks or drained crushed pineapple. Coconut flakes? Some recipes use sour cream or a combination of a little sour cream and a lot of cool whip.

I like to sprinkle a little dry jello on the top when it's done.

I haven't had any forever!! Think I'll make some this weekend.

Last 4th of July, we bought berries galore and mixed them with Flathead Lake cherries and whipped cream. It was SO GOOD!!
