Thanksgiving Leftovers - BBQ Turkey Leg

I'm sure everyone is SICK of leftovers already. And actually if you haven't put them in the freezer, you need to eat them or throw them out today. (Give em to the dog. )

Noone wanted the turkey drumsticks at my house until I decided to BBQ them.

I made a simple BBQ sauce -
8 oz tomato sauce
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon red pepper (optional)

Boil the sauce a couple minutes then pour over turkey legs and put them in a hot oven - turning and basting a couple times.

I had something else cooking in the oven, so I cooked them for 20 minutes at 450. You could go 400 for probably 25 minutes, or 350 for 30.

Nobody ate the wings either. They made really good soup with the leftover celery and carrots and gravy.

So you lucky enough to have leftovers to experiment with ?
Let me introduce you to the 3 human food disposals called my son,my son in law, and my brother in law(sisters husband).Only thing left off a turkey(if you only fix 1)is the bones. Now you know why I do 2 so I can have leftovers.

2 good points on the BBQ and the soup. Talking of BBQ,you ever BBQ a whole turkey ? Makes you go hmmmmm. If you can BBQ a chicken why not a turkey ?

I made sure I cooked enough to have lots of leftovers. And I even bought lots of leftover containers thinking my kids would want to take some with them.

All they took was a couple plates and a whole pie each!

You could probably BBQ a whole turkey...it would just take a whole lotta time!

No, it was terribly cold outside and I didn't think it would work. So instead of two turkeys we had one turkey, one ham, one roast beef and a one whole salmon. Still wish we had more leftover turkey. But I do have the carcass in the freezer...gonna make a big pot of stock.

I stewed the leftover carcass and made pot pies. They were so cute!
