SeeFood Diet
I like the See Food diet!
Old one, I know. But I was wondering how many people out there like seafood, or DON'T. Half of my inlaws don't and I'm like....WHY NOT??? My favorite is crab followed closely by shrimp then salmon. Mussels, oysters, lobster, and other fish are ok. Keep your clams and flounder. And if anyone tries to feed me catfish again, I'll SLAP 'EM!! |

I like seafood but not fish. I don't like catfish, trout...blah, blah....catfish still tastes kind of "scaly" to me. (if that makes sense)
Now crab, lobster, shrimp....that's a different story. My girls are both big seafood eaters, too. Anything I can dip in butter and have to fight with to get into is just peachy.

I love shrimp, scallops and lobster. Especially with butter to dip them in.
Clams are goot and so are crabs. Oyster Chowder New England style is wunnerful. I DETEST FISH of any kind. Living on the upper penninsula of Michigan can be a challenge. Ya see we butchered all the chickens once the weather got "close" (that's what Gramma called 2 feet or more of snow). Gramma usually only kept a dozen or so chickens during the spring, summer and fall so we didn't have chicken meat for long. When the snow was too deep for hunting or we were shut in by weather for days at a time - that's when we had "salt fish". These were fish that we caught in the summer, smoked and packed in salt. We would have them sometimes for breakfast (soaked in a bucket overnight and then fried), lunch (the fried salt fish made into soup) and dinner (the soup made into stew). I cannot even stand the SMELL of fish !! |

I got "burned out" once on shrimp. I lived for a couple of years in Louisiana. This was back in the mid-70's and you could buy shrimp off the boat or from someone with an ice cooler full in nearly any parking lot. It was 50 cent a pound and the cheapest protein to be had. I ate it 3 or 4 times a week!
My folks came down to visit and I'm already to fire up the grill and cook some good midwestern steak or burgers (hey I could hope they brought some right?). My mom shows up all proud on the doorstep with 10 lbs of SHRIMP! Geez. Thanks Ma. |

Did you barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it? Have shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried, pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich?
![]() I wouldn't mind OD'ing on shrimp sometime. I can tear up the all you can eat shrimp specials. My favorite is beer battered shrimp. There's lots of fish that's not real fishy. Halibut, tilapia, swordfish, to name a few. My favorite there is MAHI MAHI. It looks like a cartoon fish, but man it's good! |

When I was in the oilfield in Vernal UT it was almost 3 weeks before I got my first check. I existed on Ramen - making two packets with one sauce mix sachet so I'd have a sachet left over to stir into rice (which was the other thing I bought with my meager start up funds). Boom town money is always good, and I'd decided over many a dreary meal that when "my ship came in" I was going to buy ALL the lobster tails in the local grocery store. I ended up getting nearly 25 lbs of lobster - I had THAT every which way I could think of by the time the 25 lbs was gone.... and yeah lobster had lost it's "whoo-hoo" hold on me by that time too. Still love lobster though, just had to take a vacation from it for a while. |
