I just dug out this recipe after 15 years...and dang it's easy and goot!!!

1/2 C butter (unsalted)*
1/4 C corn syrup
1 C brown suger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 bags microwave popcorn

pop your 2 bags of microwave popcorn and dump it into a paper grocery bag srayed with Pam no-stick spray.

combine butter, corn syrup, sugar, and salt in an 8 C glass measuring cup/bowl. Melt in microwave for 2 minutes; stir well; then cook for 2.5 minutes longer. Stir in soda (sauce will expand, that's why a LAEGE glass mixing bowl is needed).

pour sauce over popcorn in bag and shake to coat; put bag in microwave and cook 1 minute, shake, then cook 1 more minute (stirring gently with a wooden spoon helps too!)

dump onto cookie sheet. allow to cool. break apart and ENJOY!!!


*you can use stick margarine, but final product will stay chewy.

add-in ideas: nuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows

I tried the name brand microwave kettle corn and didn't like it.

So I sprinkled a package or two of Splenda over some 'regular' microwave popcorn and it was pretty good.

And if you have some left over 'honey butter', it's great on homemade popcorn.
