Baked Fudge
A never fail favorite. You don't need a candy thermometer for this either - just an oven and a 2 quart ovenproof casserole dish!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees with the empty casserole dish in the oven. 1 lb. powdered sugar 1/2 c. margarine (the stick kind - not the "soft in a tub" kind 1/3 c. cocoa powder 1/4 c. milk Cream the margarine and the powdered sugar and the cocoa powder together. Slowly add the milk and combine well. Open the oven, pour the mixture into the pre-heated casserole dish. Bake for 10 minutes. Take the casserole dish out and dump on top: 1/2 c. nuts (optional - I've substituted the same amount of quick cooking oats, cheerios, raisin bran, raisins or craizins and it has worked just fine) 1 T. vanilla Get a wooden spoon or stiff spatula, use your oven mits to hold the casserole dish, and beat the chocolate mix until it starts to get thick. When it starts to get thick pour it into an 11" x 7" (bread loaf sized) buttered pan. Chill until firm. |
