Tortilla soup

I bought some ground pork for some unknown reason and didn't know what to do with it. The Minnesota Pork council had a lot of tasty looking recipes and here's the one I tried and it turned out GREAT.

1# ground pork
1 onion, chopped
4 cups chicken broth (I used water with 4 boullion cubes)
2 cans crushed tomatoes (I used one can w/ 1 can
rotelle tomatoes with chilies)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt ( I used seasoned salt)
1 teaspoon cumin (I didn't have any)

Saute the pork and onion until the onion is very translucent.
Add other ingredients and boil for 20 minutes.
The recipe called for 4 corn tortillas to be cut in strips and boiled, but I'm like, 'what tha?'
For a more authentic tortilla soup, cut the tortillas in strips and fry in a little oil until crispy, sprinkle with season salt (I used a TexMex seasoning that was mostly salt) and use as a garnish.

Great soup! I'm sure you could substitute ground beef, or WHATEVER!!

I made it the other day after it snowed here and it sure hit the spot!

Of course, it's about 60 degrees here now and sunny.
