Judge Overturns Cancellations of Redskins Trademark...
Saying evidence was inconclusive that Redskins was disparaging to American Indians, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has overturned a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's decision that the name should not have legal protection.
Seven American Indians, led by Suzan Shown Harjo, had filed the lawsuit, saying the name and the feather-wearing mascot disparage Indian heritage and tradition. Team officials said the name is meant to honor American Indians.
Pro-Football Inc., which owns the Redskins, said its financial losses would be significant if it lost the exclusivity of the brand that has been marketed for 36 years.

UGH - the redskins suck anyways... who wants to support a foul team?

and i can't believe the owners said something like that about their finances... whadda buncha @$$es!

Sounds like the Shyte going down here at the University of Illinois. We got a goofy looking white guy hopping around like a dumb@ss in Lakota regalia that the University bought back in like the seventies. They claim they wanna recruit NdN's but the don't want to get rid of that d@mn mascot!!!:Angry vuz it is "honoring Native Americans" We are having a protest on March 5th so anybody in the Illinois area ought to come down to Champaign!!!! We need all the support we can get considering that there are only a handful of involved Native students.

I thought they were making progress on that down there. I will be relocating to Chicago area soon, mebbe I'll be around for that. Keep us posted:o

I believe it was up to the Indian tribes in Washington D.C. to change the name back to an English or tribal Indian name.
Anyway, they (Redskins football team) need a new coach. They beat NY Gaints last week.
