The PowWows.com Princess is an ambassador for the site both online and off. She is expected to greet new members and help them feel welcome in this community.

HELLO, MY NAME IS SCHUYLER SALLAWAY AND I AM 14 YEARS OF AGE. I AM ONEIDA AND HO-CHUNK INDIAN TRIBES. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE 8TH GRADE AT LOMBARDI MIDDLE SCHOOL IN GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN. I RESIDE IN ONEIDA, WISCONSIN WITH MY MOTHER AND YOUNGER SISTER.

I LOVE GOING TO POW WOWS AND I GO TO THEM EVERY CHANCE I GET. I ALSO ENJOY MAKING NEW REGALIAS. I LIKE TO DANCE FANCY SHAWL AND TRADITIONAL.

Why would you like to be Princess
I HAVE NEVER BEEN A PRINCESS, BUT AM

FAMILIAR WITH THE PROCESS AS MY GOOD

FRIEND WAS A PRINCESS VERY RECENTLY. I

BELIEVE IT WOULD BE A GREAT HONOR TO

REPRESENT POWWOWS.COM AS YOUR PRINCESS.

I WOULD TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN ATTENDING

MANY POW-WOWS AND REPRESENTING YOU.

Bio

My name is Melynda Kachina-Sue Huntington, I come from the great Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin. I am also part Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohicans and part German. I'm 16 and a junior at Platt High School in Meriden, Connecticut. Currently I'm the only tribally enrolled student at my school. I make sure everyday to represent who I am and my background. I'm a high honor student, member of Multi-Cultural Club, member of my high school band, and a member of French Club. I try to work very hard in school so I can have a great future and make my family proud. My family is the most important thing to me and without them I'd be nothing. A few years ago I represented my culture as a student ambassador on a People to People Student Ambassadors trip to Europe. In my delegation, to some I was the first Native American they'd ever met. I'm always trying to better myself in any way I can. I do know how to have fun though, after all I am a teenager. One of my favorite things to do is play the flute. I've been playing in the band since fifth grade. I've recently made regional band. I hope someday to serve our country in the armed services and become a member in the military band. Aside from that another thing I love to do is go on powwows.com and connect with my native peoples.

Why would you like to be Princess

I'd love to be princess so I can get the word out more for the website. This pow-wow website has connected me with family members and new friends. I think it would be wonderful if other Indians would have the same joy of checking out the website like I do. Being princess for PowWows.com I can also use this to get Native Americans issues out more. I never forget where I come from.

Hello. My name is Summer John, 14 years old, grade 9 student, of Ontario. My tribal affiliation is Cayuga/Ojibwe. I have been going to powwows and dancing since I could walk, I dance teen girls jingle. I was raised with values of the longhouse. My family has always taught me to respect and believe in myself, and that if I work hard, I can achieve my goals. I may only be 14 but I have learned a lot about myself and the community around me and I look forward to learning more.

Why would you like to be Princess
I would like to represent PowWows.com as Princess because I believe that it would be a great, fun experience for me and I also would like to be the ambassador for this site because I want to be a role model for the younger generation and encourage them to continue learning about their culture.

Tansi; I am of cree/assiniboine decent. From the Ocean Man First Nation in Saskatchewan, I have been dancing pow wow (fancy shawl) since I was 5 years old. My sister and I were taught to respect elders and respect others and ourselves and to be proud of our heritage and who we are from my mother and grandmother. My mother and I make my sister's and my regalia. I also do beadwork form my sister and myself. My mother is part of the first "all women chief and council in canada" Our reserve (first nation) was re-established in 1990 and I was the very first princess chosen by our chief, the late Chief Laura Big Eagle. She chose me because I attended our pow wow and helped with the pow wow, she was very proud of me and asked on the last day of our pow wow to become princess, I reined as princess from 1996-1997, then again in 1998 to 2003. I was also princess of White Bear First Nation's Friendship Center from 1995 to present (until they have another pow wow). My goal was to finish high school and go into law enforcement, I did graduate last year and my parents are very proud of me. I will be attending law school for a year and then attending police academy the year after to become a police officer. I do not smoke, drink or do drugs. My little sister looks at me as a role model and I intend to make a good role model for her and younger fancy shawl dancers. Thankyou for your time. Angel Parisier (Eaglevoice)

I am proud of my heritage and my culture and would like to share this with everyone. I am a good role model to other young dancers and make my own regalia. I wish to speak to others to encourage this.

Hi, My name is Alicia, I was born on a cold winter day in January 7th, 1987 along with my twin brother who is only a minute younger. I have two older brothers (who are also twins) that I look up to for guidance and strength. I live in Ontario, Canada and have learned so much about my Native culture and surroundings throughout the years. I enjoy many sports such as cross-country, basketball, tennis and soccer. I am involved in two associations at my school that include,
"The Three Fires confederation" and the "OSAID Wellness Commitee". I have a small part time job helping my school as an employee in the cafeteria. I volunteer my time often to help the needs of those around me. I plan to graduate this year and set off to college in September. As I continue to grow physically, spiritually, and mentally, I learn that the true key to happiness is helping others.

Why would you like to be Princess
Although I have become aware of the website just recently, I really enjoy what this website has to offer. It is a great place to find the answers you are searching for as well as the lastest pow-wow information. I find that if I were chosen to represent PowWows.com as Princess, I would be able to share the knowledge of the Native and Ojibway culture with my fellow counterparts on this website.

Angel you make me so proud, to watch your determination to accomplish your goals is amazing. I like viewing your pictures in the gallery of fancy shawl dancers, my favorite one is the "flying.jpg" (one of the highest viewed pictures on the Galleries (bottom page). I remember that powwow like yesterday, you look like you have springs on your feet. When you go to a pow wow, your face lights up and all you see is smiles when you dance. You dance just as your name applies "just like an Angel".
