I entered the same pic for contest and my gallery, which only takes up diskspace. Is there a link maybe possible?? [/quote] Everything you upload, regardless of the category is linked into your Member Gallery. And you can upload a photo that only appears in your Gallery. So that if you have a personal picture or a picture of a pet that you want to show people, you can upload it there. Quote:

The space limit allows you to upload several pictures.
Members that are regular contributers to the Gallery will be promoted to a Photographer status. This will allow you to have a higher limit. But remember you can make the file smaller before you upload it and conserve space.

It depends on the graphics program you are using. But basically, after you have scanned in your image, you can select "Save for Web" on the File menu and it will automaticaly choose a resolution (dpi or dots-per-inch) that works well for viewing on the Internet. This resolution is not high enough to print off high-quality copies however. If you don't have this option, find where you can change the resolution of your image and put it at 150 dpi. Then save your picture.
Also, to help save space, you can save your pictures in .jpeg format which allows you to compress your files into a smaller space. Gif and .tif formats can be fairly large files and take up much more space than the same image saved as a .jpeg. I've also heard that .jpeg format works better for photographs anyway. Well, that's it in a nutshell. Your graphics program Help Section should be able to walk you through step-by-step. Hope that helped! |

Oh, yeah! Another tip is to keep your each file size under 100k to avoid potential corruption problems. When files get sent over the internet like in an email, the data is broken down into packets of info and then reassembled at the other end. Files larger than 100k have a greater chance of getting damaged as they are transmitted.
