PowWows.com - Pop Up Free

Pop up ads have long been a major revenue source for us and a necessary evil.

As of now, PowWows.com is pop up free!

This change is a relection of my committment to bring everyone the best site I can.

Hope everyone enjoys the change!

Thanks for your continued support.

Wow! That's great! I know a lot of people will be pleased. I just have one question........ since these were a major source of funding for the site to bring alot of features we have really liked........... how will the site recoup that "lost" money for new features in the future?

As long as the ads from fastclick are gone I'm happy... they set a cookie or 5 in your harddrive ... very bad and annoying especially when you are in the arcade!

Great question! I was going to post about that this morning.

Pops were a major part of our ad revenue. I'm looking at other types of ads to make up the difference. So that means there will proabably be 1-3 more ads per page.

That definantly makes for a more pleasurable experience here! Especially for us still in the stone age with dial-up! Thanks a bunch!!

...that may be an unfortunate tradeoff since it will require longer time to load pages with more ads...

... it is nice to not have the frustrating popup loading when you click on a link though

As of now, I've removed 1 banner from the bottom of the pages and added 1 near the top. So it has stayed the same for now.

Some page will get another one, but not all.
