st.paul charish the childrens powwow
Hi i went to this powwow this weekend. Just to find out on sunday that my cousin and her baby had passed away friday night. When we went to it that day. My husband who is ojibwe asked the arena director if we could do a blanket dance for the family. He said only if he could fit it in. well it never happend. He did not follow tradition. He never stopped the powwow like he was suppose to or anything. I was really upset. Then when the powwow committee was told they said yes they had room. But when they were told it was to late the guy got paid already. They said if they would of known sooner they wouldn't of paid him. also the reason came out to why he did not follow the tradition. It was because he was souix and he knew my husband was ojibwe. It was crazy. So since we gave the drum group their gifts to do a honor song in which they agreed to do. They did it anyway. When the eagle whistle was blown. So i am grateful to the hokahay singers for what they did for me and for my cuz. Just so there is no misunderstanding the powwow was awsome. The thumbs down is for ricky white for not honoring the traditional way.
