Newark, OH - Moundbuilders Pow Wow
Got back last night from a pretty good little gathering over in Newark, OH. All in all it was a good weekend. We had a little excitement with cyclone person tip toeing through the area on Saturday, but it was handled appropriately and I think everyone had a good time.
I was glad to see our old friends Red Bird Singers and Eagle Boy, our newer friends Sky Hawk and was pleasantly surprised to see Thunder Boys roll in... haven't seen them since they were little, it was awesome to see how much they've grown and improved over the years... oh yeah... there was this other drum there... Red Shield... LOL Other than that, there was a good amount of dancers and spectators, and some good vendors... all in all... a nice little pow wow. Paselo~

Gotta agree with ya Red. The powwow didn't suck. In fact it was really good until that thunderstorm came in after dinner break on Saturday. Your drum held out putting out the tunes until just before the rain hit. What were you tring to do, Punch a big hole in the clouds with the sound pressure of the drum? After the storm passed, I was forced to eat homestyle powwow food. It took everything I had to try to resist that great chow. But I buckeled and ate like a king. So much for willpower. LOL!!!!
On Sunday morning I got up early about 6AM to check the sound system and found gallons of water on the tarps that covered the drum arbor. I must have pushed off 50 gallons. It was like watching St Mary's falls back home on the Flathead. Man that water just kept coming off the top of the arbor. So much for sleeping in on a Sunday morning in the Tin tipi with that nice aircondition. At least you got to "rough it" in a hotel where room service closed at midnight. I had to eat home cooked food that my wife was simmering all day. I actually had to wake up to the sent of fresh coffee. Poor Me! lol!!! I met Tiffany Redfeather on Friday evening. Nice girl! Too bad she had to work on Saturday and Sunday so she missed the powwow. But it was sure nice that she made it at least for Friday evening. We must have done something right because the really heavy thunder storms and tornado sightings seemed to go around us. Yep the powwow didn't suck. In fact I thought it was really good!!!!
