Children of Many Colors Native American Intertribal Powwow

Work was sending me to our office in Cali this week, so I came out a couple of days early to check out this powwow! The weather was perfect! It was not like NC this time of year. Yeah it was pretty warm in the sun, but if you could find some shade, the breeze was nice and it didn't seem that bad. Plus NO HUMIDITY! There were 5 drums there, 3 southern, 2 northern. Southern Host was Hale and Company. Northern Host was Wild Horse Singers. I thought that all the drums did a good job and kept the dancers up and going! There was some gourd dancing before the intertirbal sessions too! There were lots of vendors there as well.

Not sure how many dancers were there. The areana would have held more. It was a traditional powwow so no prize or day money and apparently that might have kept people away. However, with the OCIC powwow next weekend, I thought some might have come out to shake off the dust and get ready for that contest.

Did I mention that they fed on both Friday night and Saturday? I've found that often the longer the name of the powwow the more offbeak it is. So I was very happily surprised and the quality of this event!

Nice job Corina and Redbird!
