to say the least, i was disappointed at harbor springs powwow...first of all, i am only a powwow junkie, used to dance, but on sabbatical right now
first off, the parking sucked - for most dancers, they had to walk a long way to get to the powwow and lug around all their regalia, seats, etc.
second - the camp area sucked - very small, only one portable available which by the way was not cleaned on a regular basis, there were no shower facilities, unless you wanted to pay $16 dollars to get in the state park for 2 people and a car
third - some, NOT ALL of the dancers... tsk tsk tsk.. i am disgusted - other dancers dance their heart out while some just piddle around on the dance floor making it look like they are moving really fast or even moving their feet for that matter (i'm sure people know what i am talking about)
fourth - the judging sucked BIG TIME!!! Harbor Springs is the only place you can stop whenever you want and still place in first or second...what is going on with these powwows these days???? Sorry to say, that was it for me.. I will not be going back, unless there is improvement
mind you, these are only my observations and gripes, i have been out of the loop for a good while, (personal choice) but have been to quite a few powwows this year
