Tulalip Veterans Powwow

The Tulalup Veterans Powwow had up to 28 drums this year, the most ever. It is a long established powwow that draws dancers and drums from as far away as Yakama, Spokane and beyond. I was not at the powwow the entire time, so I didn't get the contest results. Anybody?

i was there but i didnt write them down... i know who took women's fancy/jingle...
3rd- Vanessa Campobasso
2nd- Bridget Eaglespeaker
1st- Thea McCloud

now ok... whats up with the combining in womans?? if that doesnt just chap my hide? they dont always combine us? i have danced there all by myself more than once! it didnt seem like it was a money issue cause they even had that push dance special that the committee sponsered...
and no fancy dancers even placed in women's... not that i think one is supposed to, but ya know... oh wells... just had to vent... sighhhh

oh well... still love that powwow... had a great time! seen a lot of old friends! will be back there next year...

I remember some of them junior categories...well because...I was IN IT. and teens too.
junior girls Jingle/Fancy
1. Kia McCloud / Jingle Dancer
2. Me! / Jingle Dancer
3. Nashawnee George / Jingle Dancer

Teen Girls Fancy/Jingle
1. Wechekiya George (shawnee's sister) / Jingle Dancer
2. Ramona Hawley (I Think her name is Ramona or Mona or something) / Fancy Dancer
3. Toreasia Woods (my sister!) / Jingle Dancer

And here is a small list of some of the drums that showed up there: Spear Fish, Flicker Tail, 206, West Shore, Little Thunder, Wagon Burners and thats all i remember. there was actually only 23 drums.
