Mid Columbia River Powwow
This powwow at Celilo, Oregon was a smallish but good celebration that even included some contest dancing and the traditional masquerade dance for Halloween. Seven drums included War Pony, chosen as host. I think there were around 30 dancers of all ages. The village graciously openned the Longhouse up to overnight sleepers and the morning longhouse service said goodbye to the longhouse kitchen -- a new kitchen is planned as well as other rebuilding and expansion of housing at the Celilo Indian Village just east of The Dalles, OR.
Please support the Wyam Salmon Feast and Powwow, second weekend of next April.
