Powwow in Way South Texas, McAllen.

We just got home from McAllen Texas. The trip was a safe good trip. We went from home through Springfield MO, Thru Tulsa OK, OK City/ Norman OK then south on I-35. Once we got to Texas we ran into road construction. Texas has road construction along I-35 to 37 to 281 and all of the way to McAllen. We even had to come to a full stop for MANY minutes in Austin. Sanatonio wasn't a whole lot better. They were doing all of their road work at nights it seems. We didn't have any construction work during the day on the return trip.

The dance was a great time. As usual the Soto family were wonderful host. Robert Soto performed his hoop dance even at his advanced age, Ha Ha He He Ho Ho. I was asked to help during the Gourd Dance to stand in as their head Gourd dancer and I agreed. I was blessed to be able to dance with my friend Erwin De Luna. We Gourd Danced Sat afternoon and evening after we ate dinner, served by the family and Committee. Bryan Brightcloud stepped in as the MC, my friend Gary had a very important gov't meeting he could not evade. The Buffalohead brothers were the head singers and they did a stand up job. The songs were A-1 and the manner of the drum was proper. There was even a host Northern drum. The Headman was a Dine/ Kickapoo man named Darin Cadman. I new one of his Uncles personally, Luther. The beautiful Headlady was Rachel Soto. Scott, Pupdog, was the AD. My wife and I even won the 2 step contest.

I have always had a good time at this dance and recommend it to everyone. Hope to see everyone that can come next year and help out the nextyears Headstaff.
