well, i just back home from another wonderful pow wow in Concord, NC. the atmosphere and the committee were awesome. and the weather was spectacular, i did get alittle hot during the day session on Sat but other then that, this was the best weather that i have seen at this pow wow in years (it's normally really hot for all the sessions)
i want to say that the host drum did a really good job. i think the groups name is Young Spirit but i'm not sure. every time that i see these guys they are better. they are always nice and helpful and also willing to help others learn about the songs. they were the only drum there this year but they held up and never missed a beat. the head male and female dancers were fun to watch and talk to. the head male was Danny Bowman, from Winston-Salem, NC, and the the head female was Debbie Perry, from Irving, TX. both of these dancers were always on their feet when the songs were being sung and they did an exceptional job dancing. i also, want to say that the Mc did a really good job. the MC was Lowery Begay, from Jonesborough, TN. he was always on top of everything. Lowery also taught a really informative discussion during the day and did a really good job hoop dancing at all three sessions. to all my friends that i saw there, i want to say thank you for making it another great yaer. and to those that i had the pleasure of making you aquantice, thanks for coming. i hope that this pow wow continues for along time. keith |

Your Right it was another wonderful pow wow! The weather was perrrfect! The only thing I have to complain about is that. . . .they ran out of butter by the time I got my baked potato. . .LoL. Lowery Begay was an awesome MC, he also is the best hoop dancer I have ever seen!! For those of you that stayed at the Econo Lodge (because I guess they had a powwow rate) I think we need to get their pool time moved back from 10pm to atlest 1am. . .lol I wanted to jump in the pool so bad! lol all n all it was a great powwow, the park was beautiful! I can't wait to go back next year!!

It was a great time. For some of us, the pow wow was just a continuation of a week of fun and fellowship. Many of us came to the pow wow straight from NOAC, including the head lady dancer. My favorite thing about Frank Liske and the other pow wows is the renewing of friendships made while at pow wows.
Learning to Gourd Dance was fun (the ladies part). The more experienced dancers were very gracious in leading me through the dance, though I had to stop dancing before all the sessions were over to help a friend dress for the 3pm pow wow. I am already looking forward to next year's pow wow as well as AICA.

The Princess contest was won by Amanda Farley. She danced jingle. There were 2 shawl dancers and 3 jingle dancers in the contest. My daughter was one of the shawl dancers.I thought all the girls danced well, but all of them over stepped the last beat of the song. It ended one beat shorter than the girls were expecting.

Congratulations to all the girls that competed for Princess. As a whole you were a top notch group. There were two young ladies that deserve an extra pat on the back. They were out there fully dressed til the last drum beat on Friday night. Good Oklahoma style. But all of you keep up the quality that was shown at Liske. You are all winners.
