The Forks, Winnipeg

Ok, this wasn't really a pow-wow, more of a demonstration, but I hear there's a traditional wedding on the weekend. Dancers get paid 10 bucks a day. Reg's get more. It's nice and hot. We had to dance on bricks but hopefully they're going to put some turf down eh. The stage was hot. There are some really good hoop dancers there. Bruce Fontaine and Melvin Starr and I'll have to look for the other guy's name. I'll hopefully be back on the Sept. long weekend to try and dance again, which will be a pow-wow, if I remember the speaker's words. Mc's are good. Good bannock burgers, kinda small, but I'm dieting. ;-). Ceremonies happening beforehand.

Apparently, the pow-wow isn't on Sept. 4th and 5th, 2004 anymore. I was looking at "the forks" website, though there are dates in August on the weekends.

It's real nice there. I was up there a couple months ago. Too bad it's so built up around the forks. I walked out to the island and it was just purty. Wish I could get back up there, but not likely anytime soon.
