Strange powwows Bookmark and Share
Me and a few buddies of mine were discussing some of the weird things we've seen at some of the local powwows and it got me to thinking - what is the strangest or most outlandish thing you've seen at a powwow?

For mine, my husband is an EMT and works the medic stuff for most of the powwows we know. This girl was epileptic and took meds for seizures. Well she forgot her meds and started having a seizure and my husband was getting ready to call an ambulance when this guy who was a "shaman" (self proclaimed) walked over to her, put oil on his fingers and shoved it up her nose. He then grabbed her head with both hands and literally (I'm not exagerating here) said, "You are healed. You will have no more seizures." Would you believe this girl refused to go to the hospital? About three hours later, she had another seizure and he called 911. Don't ya love the crazy white wannabes?

Did that guy happen to run a Sweat Lodge by any chance? LOL

LOL not that I know of but it wouldn't surprise me since he walks around proclaiming to be able to heal anything and everything and hands out names like candy.

Oh boy - wondering if I was at this powwow? LOL
I still say one of the weirdest - - several years ago, there was a woman, late 30's maybe, dressed in a Xena warrior princess leather skirt, leather halter top, and fox tails hanging every where out of her skirt. But of course, knee length moccs. Woah boy!

Weirdest thing???? I need to think some more, but off the top of my head...

There was a white guy once at Kamloopa PW (years ago) who was wearing a bear skin, where the bear head is above his head. And hanging from the ears was yellow crepe paper....LOL! Good thing it didn't rain!!!
