I hope you are all getting excited...here are some cool things to get excited about. There will be a videographer making a video recording of the powwow, and there will be a photographer on site for people to be able to get a picture taken at the powwow. So get some beauty sleep to look your best :) haha

Ok - so I just got asked this question - does it cost to park at the Duke pow-wow and does it cost to get into the pow-wow? If you would please answer the question here....thanks.

Here's another update- four drums coming now! Stoney Creek, Southern Sun, The Plainsmen, and another one whose name I cannot remember...it sounds something like Youngatum (okat that's probably really wrong. But it starts with a Y).

Parking is free in a reserved lot. Here's directions and a map:

Admission is free.

There will also be free frybread or Saponi stew from the food vendors. MMM....

Driving Instructions
From East:
Via I-40 West: Exit onto the Durham Freeway (N.C. 147). Take Durham Freeway to Chapel Hill St. Exit (#13). Take RIGHT on Chapel Hill St. Continue straight on Chapel Hill St. until it turns into Duke University Rd. Cross Anderson St. (light). Take the next RIGHT, Chapel Dr. Turn RIGHT on Chapel Dr. at large stone pillars. Continue to traffic circle and take circle around to the second street, which is Flowers Drive. Allen Lot will be up a hill on your LEFT.
From North:
Via I-85 South: In Durham, take the LEFT-lane exit (#174B) for US 15-501 South Bypass - Duke University/Chapel Hill. Continue on U.S. 15-501 to the fourth exit (#107), marked Duke Univ. West Campus, a RIGHT-lane exit for N.C. 751. Turn LEFT onto N.C. 751 S., go under the freeway. At the third traffic light Duke University Rd. take a LEFT. Continue past Wannamaker Dr (unmarked), Towerview Rd. and Edens Dr. to Chapel Dr. Turn LEFT onto Chapel Dr. at large stone pillars. Go around the traffic circle to Flowers Drive (second RIGHT). Walking Instructions

To Cameron Indoor Stadium - Walk away from Flowers Dr. towards the buildings across from the parking lot. Walk up to the main quad and towards the bus stop to your left. Keep walking straight through the residential quad and across Towerview Rd. Cameron Indoor Stadium is on the opposite side of the Parking Lot once you cross Towerview.
To Bryan University Center - Walk away from Flowers Dr. towards the buildings across from the parking lot. Walk up to the main quad and towards the bus stop to your left. The Chapel is directly in front of you. The Information Desk is in the BC behind the Chapel.

I had so much fun at the Duke pow-wow!!! Big hats off to the hard work of the committee....I was real proud of all those kids working so hard - the give away was off the hook and the food was delicious - I have known that cook for so long, and she is an angel...

. Of course, always awesome seeing my peeps, and having fun with Yantanon (I have no idea how to spell that - sorry Tommy, Purnell and guys) but it good always good to see a group who is young to keep keeping on - right on!!!

The one thing I did not like was that I did have to pay $5 to park, and there were no signs leading me to the pow-wow. Had it not been for my girl Katasha, who not only gave me directions but also my baby's daddy for the drop off, I woulda been totally lost.....just giving feedback, not criticizing, to the kids of Duke....I applaud your efforts and thoroughly enjoyed your pow-wow.

It was fun watching Dona getting that Duke bag and rubbing it all over the UNC fans - that was hilarious...the head dancers happened to be two of my fav peeps in the world - so that I must say were excellent choices...

Love to all - finally back home - see ya all on the trail - pow-wow hard!!!

I think its Youngatamund...anyway...sorry to hear you got lost. There were a lot of signs, as I was there at 8 AM putting them up. But then at the end of the day, the rain and wind (it was really windy starting around 9 before it rained) had blown a lot down. I think if it rains again and we have that problem, we'll tape them up to phone polls. As for parking, what lot did you park in? If it was Allen lot, we will check into that because we paid for it to be reserved. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am so not upset with you guys - it was just frustrating for me because I asked the attendant was this the right place to park for the pow-wow and she was like yes - pull right here and pay $5 and walk right over there. Just letting ya know that it probably happened to others as well....the weather had a lot to do with several folks not coming out - I am just glad that u had the great turnout that you did.
