I'll tell what though U.A.I.D.V. would be a start....(United American Indians of Delaware Valley) Now i'd really crack up if the center is non exsistant now? Years back though they had a Powwow in Fairmount park in Philly.....The 2nd weekend in Aug (same time as Rocky Boy). This was a fun powwow....Folks would head up from DC and other areas....It was fun....General Grant announced a few times and it was cho!
On the other hand....Some Powwows in PA are purty Weak ta doe! Good luck!

Thanks guys. I'll have to keep those times and locations in mind. Wish there was something really good during the winter, even if it is indoors. Thanks again.

The Lawilowan American Indian Festival is March 8, 2008 at the Carlisle Expo Center. There is also a pow wow in Middletown April 19 & 20 and Columbia June 14 & 15. My friend and I attend as many pow wows as possible, so I created a word document listing those I know about so far for this year in PA. If you want to email me I can send you my list - waja1@verizon.net. Hope this helps.

You might try to search out Native American organizations on any major college campus. A lot of the time, they will have a powwow in the spring. Just an idea. |

UAIDV does not sponsor a powwow anymore. Native Nations Dance Theater sponsors the Children's Festival & Powwow (non-contest) in Philadelphia at the Rotunda annually on PENN's Campus. This year it will be in October.
You can contact (215) 472-9996www.nndt.homestead.com/directory.html for more info.

I would say that the one in Carlisle is a good one to go to, but as for the other powwows in PA....Steer clear. There are a lot of powwows to go to in the Jersey and Maryland area. Being from York, I could always find a powwow in these area and and only have to drive at the most two hours.....Check it out.

Got one for ya to check out... the Penn State pow wow is a good one, I think it's in the middle of the month of April at Mt. Nittany Middle School in State College... Ive been to a few PA pow wows, and this one is the best I've run across.

To all who read this:
I would like to bring to your attention a project the we are working on called the Hiawatha Diary's,it pertains to a long forgot piece of Native history that was almost covered up by the city it was in.The Hiawatha asylum was suppose to be for "crazy" or "insane" Indians and many were placed there and forgoten. If you don't know about it then please goto the website at:Hiawatha Home and have a look to see the history of this place and see for yourself why we are working to make this known to all people. There is a donation of 1 dollar that goes towards the Marker for the patients that are buried there and we are also trying to raise funds for ground penetrating equipment to see if there are any bodies that are not marked with a metal marker. The cemetery sits close enough to a golf course that people the play there don't even seem to care that they walk on the graves of our ancestors.I have asked this question before on a radio station as well as on my myspace page,"How would you like it if I went to tee off on your ancestors graves at the graveyards. These people need to be honored the traditional way and have not been yet.I feel this is an important part of our history that should be told and this is what I am doing on as many websites as I can. Please help anyway you can,it would be greatly appreciated. October 11th and 12th 2008 at Blue Marsh Lake Recreation Area, 1268 Palisades Drive, Leesport, PA 19533. Great festival, everything 100% authentic and real. Big powwow drum from Canada as well as Eastern Social dancing. Bill Crouse, Seneca, is MC.
