Town problems with vendors

I know of a powwow that is in danger of having no vendors for the 1 day powwow in january. It seems that the town is requiring ALL vendors pay for a permit, keep tract of all sales and pay tax to the town and..get this...fingerprint them AND charge them a $45 finger printing fee!!

Anyone ever see this happen?

At a bigger longer event I wouldnt be THAT big a deal for the vendors, but at a small 1 day event it is rediculous.

Is this Fayetteville, NC? Seriously though, at a powwow in Fayetteville last June, there were problems with city or county officials and vendors.

It must have something to do with ordinances or insurance; I would simply change the location of the event. That way whomever is doing this might get a darned clue.

Great idea

The best way to change the minds of city or county officials is to hit their pocketbooks or make them aware of how their decisions are adversely affecting their town in a financial way. The best thing for your committee to do billyjoejimbob is to get on the agenda for their next meeting and tell them, "Well, we were going to have this event in your town and it would have attracted 'x' amount of people including vendors, but your policy scared most of them away so we're moving the event to this other town." Follow that up with a letter or two to the editor of the local newspaper and you've made their constituency aware of their decision as well.

Either way you'll win. They might change their minds right then and there and you can have the event in that town or you'll just move to another town whose officials make more sense and are willing to work with you.

Move!

use the County Next door and Remember who the County Officials are next door. Make sure you send them a Ticket to come each year. I tell Ya its a Crock around here too..

What gets me is we voted these idiots in because they were the only ones running! So they have a project of 2.5 million dollars and the vote passes 3/2....These people dont own more than their own home and gonna make a 2.5 million dollar decision for the PEOPLE...

If you have problems like that with the town or anything County...MOVE 10 miles to the next town! Have a full page write up in the PAPER and Make sure you state the decision to move it! List each County Commissioner....Thats worth an extra Hundred bucks to Show the citizens what couold have been there for the Kids!
