Yes there is a singing contest the prize money is 1st $500 2nd $300 and 3rd $200 dont know if this is combined or northern and southern seperated. they are trying for a bigger payout in years to come, everyone welcome, this will be a fair contest, with judges being picked from different tribes and different areas, the committee is trying to make sure that everyone is treated equal, also the casino is right next door and there will be the 1st ever slot tournment for registered dancers and singers, the prize money will be determined by how many register for this contest, this will be a fun powwow put on by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, they want everyone to come and have lots of fun and enjoy themselves.

We were thinking about heading to this one. But....it would be an awful long drive for such a small singing contest. It would cost a lot to go down there; and to come back with virtually nothing would hurt our wallets big time.
But who knows...we might just show up anyways to sing....cuz we really love to sing. We've travelled many miles to a pow wow before and came home with only 20 dollars each...it aint nothing new. |

Kiiwe, Oklahoma is a mecca of powwows, top powwow dancers and more importantly, top powwow drums. There will undoubtedly be good drum competition. Go on down, and try your luck against some good competition if you like to sing. If it's just about the money. . . well, what can I say????
