Is this a one day powwow or more? You have to be careful on you entry fees, especially since it's a first time event. What is this AISC?

If it's more than one day you can do weekend passes..... that price is set a little lower than paying the $5 or so each day. If it was mine...... I'd let elders in free........ they've paid enough dues in their lives. I'd probably have family passes too..... I mean are they going to leave some kids in sit in the car while mommy and daddy competes?

Like WW says........ be careful........ Mom..dad and one older kid is $21 right off the bat....... throw in a taco...... that's + $15 more = $36.

You can get rolls of raffle tickets from wally world. Not too bad... was like maybe $8 a roll of doubles.

Lemon shake ups are always good for me!

If you have a good drum contest you don't have to worry about other drums...... they would be coming for it. Might wanna offer some day money to the first so many to sign up and who don't place........ that way they can recoup some gas bucks.

Carding vendors is all well and good....... but have you decided what you would do if there is a non Indian that is selling Indian made items from enrolled members? If it was me I'd do it on a case by case thing and keep my options open. I've seen enrolled members sell crap and have those annoying little flutes and karate kid drums.

Drum and handdrum contests always draw more people. Just like having Northern and Southern by themselves instead of being combined.

Some kind of a soup thing is always good too. Like bean soup...... corn soup.... menudo

I would suggest going down slightly with admission; like $5 for adults, $2 7-18 yrs, 6 & under, and elder over 60 yrs FREE! 50/50 raffles work well, get people to donate nice items for other drawings that take place at end powwow. If you are limitied with funds, be careful with your decisions about payout. There is nothing worse than promising money you won't have to payout when all is said and done. It would damage your reputation, to say the least...

Prices sound in keeping with other places. $1 difference in taco and hotdog may be off a little.

The vendors we got their fee and asked for a donation for raffle.

WW's right on with the 50/50 raffles....... big interest in those. Also it would pay to invest in a nice pendleton ...... those always go well as does star quilts.

Ndns are such gamblers. At our powwow, whatever vendor donates a prize for the raffle get thrown into bowl and a name gets pulled out at the end of the weekend and that vendor gets their registration fee back. Course can't have a cheap raffle prize though. Almost all of the vendors donate.

Ewww, I like that vendor raffle deal, that will encourage them all to donate an item. I will suggest that for our next summer's powwow, if you don't mind! I'm a vendor, and I know I would go for that.
