Howard County, MD 2006 Winners

First off let me say - hats off to all (the few there was) particpants. It was hot as blazes out there!!! As you will be able to see there weren't many dancers, drums because of all the other powwows going on but we had a ball. Met a few new folks. Without Red Earth and Cypress Creek we would have been nothing. You guys saved the weekend. And let me be the first to say this online - RED EARTH - YOU GUYS ROCKED!!! It is so good to see young folks taking the initiative you have taken and running with it. You have come such a long way in a little over a year (isn't that how long it has been??) I'm glad to hear that Howard County went well this year. On behalf of Stoney Creek and my dad, I want to say thanks to Red Earth for steppin' up and hosting the Powwow. We missed Howard County this year, but felt like we had to represent up in New York. Good job NDNqt and everyone else.

And thanks to the family of Natala "Tala" Lowery for the honoring on Saturday. For those who didn't know Tala was killed on the Monday after Easter. She was transporting a patient (I believe to dialysis) when a man who had already caused a 2 car accident hit her and knocked her into traffic. The van she was driving exploded into flames. The man was high on PCP and this was very early in the morning. He was on his way to his electricians job!
