Not asking for any names....... Do you know any drums that do things like druggin or drinkin and things have come back on them or their families?

We always hear that ....... if you don't carry yourself in a "good way" ...... if you do this or that "bad stuff" will happen. Just wodering if you've seen this happen first hand.

I know of one member of one drum that was doing things is a bad way. I can't confirm druggin or drinking, but I can confirm deception and theft. Any way, the drum broke up over the scams. All the good members left for other drums while the scammer was left alone to fend for himself. He has a new drum and from what I am told but can't confirm, he is up to his old tricks. One scam was a 50/50 raffle. The winner got about 10% of the take. Another scam was a raffle for a small generator. Nice one too! I have seen the same generator raffled off at a number of different powwows. The same few people always won the thing at each powwow.

I admit that I was scammed by the guy too. Now when I show up at a powwow where he is at, he knows I am watching because I know his scams. He usually packs his drum and leaves. He even left once when he was host drum.

The funny thing is that he really can drum and sing very well. The guy really knows how to "rock a powwow". If the guy put his energy into doing things in a good way, he could be a somebody. Good talent wasted.

From what I have seen and heard, the guy and his wife's health went down hill very fast after the drum split up.

I edited the title to include dancers too. I apologize to the drums out there for just making it seem I was only thinking it's a problem with them.

My point is that we've heard this said and just want to know of actual if people believe some suffer because of things they are doing or have done in and around the circle or how they carry a drum.

I know of one whole family that is suffering financially and lately healthwise.

Another one health.

Another was whole family with every thing seemed to happen to them.

Yes, I'm unfortunately related to one of these people. Nothing seems to go right for that family and so far they have lost a couple kids through tragic accidents. They are talked about as having "bad medicine" and they have a bad reputation with all the people around them. I guess there is one in most families; it's the person that thinks they are always right, and they're more than willing to drag other people down with them. When this man held a powwow one year; he actually had the nerve to hand over EMPTY envelopes to the drums he had invited.

That is so sad.

I think this happens more often that what we'd like to think. It's just no talked about or people think it's just a bad string of "luck".

Did he actually think that the drums wouldn't open the envelopes?
