Me and a fren unexpectedly ending up makin it to this gathering. Got there just in time for the start of the evening session. I was waaaaaaaaay out in the sticks and we had to take dirty roads to get there. The turn out was excellent for a lil rez powwow. The drums that made it out were:Eagle Creek(NH) Southern Medicine(SH) Twin Eagle Sun Bear Singing Eagle Eagle Boy Bear Shield Black Thunder No drum contest @ this gathering. Me and my boyz didn't make it but I got invited sing a few songs with all of the drum groups except Eagle Boy. Nezbah, your family did an awesome job with putting together this gathering.

Ahe'he, Grizzly, thank you.
We had a blast. My sister couldn't make it so my mom and I had to represent. The Simonson's were the ones who were in charge, we just ended up sponsoring a category this year. We didn't want to take the credit........ayeee. But all those Tachiinii's (Yeii Dine) are our family so I guess we have to claim it. LOL. I am glad you were there and got there. This was my first time for that powwow, we're usually on the trail up north. This was also the first time my son danced there and my family could see him dance so it was nice. (It's funny, he took 2nd but no one knew who he was related to). So I know for a fact it wasn't one of those rigged ones. I was told the payout is usually really good for this little powwow. In fact, I was telling my sister, since my son is a grasser, we should do a family sponsorship next year for a Grass Dance Special, any ideas? I was thinking of doing a Men's/Teens special 13 years and up maybe doing another category of ages 5 and up. We were discussing money and jackets for the winners. Anyhow, we had a blast, weather was nice, it didn't rain. It was hot, but what do you expect? LOL. A good turn out too, I was surprised. I really wanted those star quilts, man, they were nice. Ohhh well, i'll have to make my own I guess. LOL. Injun, did you make it up there? Well the rest of you, will have to make it next year. Oh yeah, the Eagle boys did a killer grass dance song for the Jr Boys, nice song guys! Haven't heard one like that in a long time, it was appreciated. My lil one went to place $$ on the drum in honor of that song. Good songs, good food, everything.

Sorry, I was too tired to write down all the winners. Mom was already asleep and it was 12:30am *S*. I just stayed for the jr. categories, didn't even get to hear the rest. You missed a good one tho. LMAO @ all the Hopi/Navajo Jokes. I am not even gonna go near the long and hard one. LOL. Oh yeah, I was surprised that the Zuni boys (twin eagle) showed up in such a hostile environment! Yet, alone to be able to find the place. haha. ayeeeeeee, kidding. Good job guys, nice to hear them again. Oh yeah, you forgot about the 5k run and the 3-on-3 BB Tourney (them Zuni boys took it), they should advertise that too.

Oh yeah, that road....scares me too. I came in late Friday evening about 11am on that road. It gives me the heebie jeebies. LOL. I just hate them lil bunnies, I actually hit one that evening, 'crunch', ohhhhhh ick, I ran over the Trix rabbit. *S*. Well I am glad you made it back safely, next year you'll just have to stay at the hogan, so you won't have to drive at night.

OH yeah Grizzly, I forgot about that. ALL the drums got paid for attending, so that was kewl. I didn't even know what we paid ya all.......LOL. Probably needed it for all the punctured tires from drivin on our rez roads.......hahaa...kiddin. Well they always pay the drums that come, that's why there is no drum contest. I like it better that way.....makes ya feel good.
