Ok, do drums in other states know they are welcome to be in the singing contest too? lol

big time related ojib drums.... im not suprised..... then evey BODY gets butt hurt when these drums dont win else where when they travel way-a-far-away/ etc. because of their name.... anyway.. hope all had a good time.... hope it wasnt too humid..

Very hard to place at that pow-wow if you not from Minnesota.

I'm not assuming anything, just that the last drum to do good that wasn't from there was Blackstone.... Can't even remember the year.

I think what they should do is have 3 categories again, Northern(str8), Contemp, and Southern, seems to be more fair.

I like that idea too. That way more quality groups from each category will show up again.

I got mad love for that pow-wow....haven't been for a few years, but I've ALWAYS had a good time there. There's been other drum groups that have done well there besides the locals to go along with Blackstone....I don't think it's all that fair to the pow-wow committee to say it's hard to place there if you're not from minnesota. It's a reality that you gotta go against Minnesota/Wisconsin's finest when you go there...but there's some badass groups in that area..... Battle River and Midnite Express winning there isn't much different than other places....they do the same thing wherever they go.

I'm usually with ya Hulk, but I gotta disagree with ya there. I do agree with Minne-wheats though....it would be awesome if they moved it 3 separate categories again....

Another thing that might help for the southern category is to have another 49 singing contest, could even add a "canary" singing contest for the backup singers.

definatly i say yah yah yah i would love that. being from Mille lacs i gotta say i love my hink pw, although i love the one in mille lacs better just cause it is smaller and mostly there are people i grew knowing, i mean a lot of us go to hink to cause it rocks. it is fun have two annual pws

i did not get to go to hink this year and prolly wont go to mille lacs, my neice is just not ready to face her mom yet, but my heart is there.

Raining Thunder, Northern Wind, Grindstone Lake, Picture Rock, Red Lake, Leech Lake, and i think Black wing or something. They all sounded good. Way to go to the drums that placed.
