Anadarko man identified after slaying
NORMAN -- Police released the name of the man shot to death during a social gathering Sunday morning in northwest Norman. Andrew W. Supernaw, 27, of Anadarko, died of a single shotgun wound to the chest. A second man, Myron Tartsah, 23, also of Anadarko, received a superficial head wound, the cause of which was not determined. Norman police Capt. Leonard Judy said the injuries were the result of a fight that happened at an event the two men attended after the Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival. The event was not sanctioned by the festival. Investigators are following several leads, but no arrests have been made, Judy said. About 300 people attended the event in a field off 12th Avenue NW, south of Tecumseh Road, police said. Officers had been monitoring the event from its perimeter throughout the night but said they received only one complaint before the report of the shooting at 6:48 a.m. Judy said the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the field, but Supernaw and Tartsah were taken a short distance north on 12th Avenue NW, where the car stalled due to mechanical problems. It was then the request came in for emergency personnel, he said. Two jailed in Norman shooting death By The Associated Press NORMAN -- Two men wanted in the weekend shooting death of an Anadarko man near Max Westheimer airport in Norman were arrested early Tuesday, police said . Aaron R. Prado, 21, and Brian Wilson Ponkilla, 22, were being held in the Cleveland County Detention Center on first-degree murder complaints in the Sunday shooting of Andrew Supernaw, 27. Details of the arrest were not immediately available. Supernaw died of a gunshot wound to the chest and another man was wounded at a party attended by about 300 people in a field near the airport, police have said. Supernaw had been arguing with the two suspects, according to police, but no motive has been released. Ambulances transported the men to Norman Regional Hospital, where the gunshot victim died, said Capt. Leonard Judy. The other man, who suffered a superficial head wound, was treated at the hospital and released. Officers had been monitoring the party all night and had received only one complaint, he said. The gathering is an annual event held after the Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival, but isn't sanctioned by the festival, Judy said. |

This is so sad. You just can't go anywhere to enjoy yourself without someone doing something stupid. When will this violence stop? It has to end.

Yup, that's who I heard died and that's who I heard did it. But I certainly wasn't going to say anything online before it was published. I know Drew's mom. I feel sorry Drew had to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This whole thing really saddens me. Such a waste of life. These guys are so young. Whole life ahead of them. Now what.
What I really feel bad about too is that some are more upset how some contest went than they are about the loss of life. That's what is so sad.
