Angry Salamanca Pow wow....or 6 Nations pow wow???

alright....i'm just as stumped as you all are... . i know these pow wows aren't till July...but plan ahead! where would you rather go? Salamanca's got good prize money and there are category splits. But then again 6 nations is da BOMB pow wow. Pretty DUMB that they had to go and schedule them on the same weekend!!!

I'm just trying to find out where everyone will be at!

Myself...Im leaning more towards Salamanca. I hate trying to find a hotel in Hamilton because Brantford is all booked-up. Last year, I ended up back in Niagara Falls because the hotel we had reserved at didn't keep our room. I can drive my piece back and forth to Salamanca!
But thats all speculation at this point....As you said, it is in July. Are you coming out of your retired status for that weekend? Or you thinking about ending it earlier?

I think i'll go check out six nations. I had fun there last year, but yeah the hotels in brantford.. its so hard to get a room i couldn't get one there either i guess you gotta book extra early.

Decisions.....

Grand River is always on the same weekend, the Senecas moved theirs down to accomodate their other shindig.
Man y'all got it wrong, it's horrible tryin' to find a hotel in salamanca. The Holiday Inn is booked up 8 months in advance (trust me i know) or the skeezy motel across from it. Other than that you still gotta drive a ways to another town. Brantford has more hotel choices but you still gotta drive down to the rez, which is why most ppl camp at that pow wow. I personally will be at 6 Nay since my sweetie is on the flyer! LOL Which reminds me to book a hotel room. The trick is ppl, to call the day you leave/or before you arrive and make sure your room is in order. And always, always, always get the name of the person who took you reservation & your confirmation #. Hotels are never really booked up (a trick my hubby learned) and if you got proof of your reservations you can call them on it and could even get your room upgraded/discounted/free! They are suppose to make their customers happy remember. (when all else fails just give 'em that stoic NDN look to scare the heck outta them!! ) But neways, both good pow wows. Seneca*one- your going to 6 nay cuz I wanna see the new baby!. Happy trails.........

SKEEZY!! *L* Thats why Im not worried about staying down in Salamanca this year. You see, I can drive back-and-forth...YES! But for everyone else, it is a drive to Olean for a room.

Its a drive up to Six Nay for me, then a drive to the Pow wow and back. This way, its only a drive to the pow wow, and then home...But again, Im not sure where I'll be at. Sure sounds like Im committing to Salamanca, though, doesn't it?

I'd say go to Six Nations!! LOL I'll be there and it's always fun! The powwow is always the 4th weekend in July. It's only 1 20-30 minute drive depending on how fast or slow you drive and where your hotel is. I dont know about the hotels and booking in Brantford since I've never had to book one but there are many small hotels on Colborne Street East, Bell City Motel, Four Star Motel, Grand Motel & a bunch of others on the street also the is aBest Western, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, and Comfort Inn I believe.

Ok.. so the first weekend in July is actually the first of July..
The following weekend is Tuscarora Picnic and Field Day
The third weekend is border crossing and the casino powwow
the fourth weekend is Salamanca powwow... The salamanca used to fall on the third weekend when border crossing was happening.. Shoot the dates for all these are at the Frybread Hut, I'll have to go and get them for you...

casino powwow July 14-16, 2006

Seneca Allegany Veteran's Pow Wow July 21-23

I don't have the dates for grand river though... but the seneca powwow dates come from the SNI newletter.

http://frybread-hut.com/forums/index.php? that's my forum. Mostly haudenosaunee. It moves a bit slow but me and the other admins created it for the old Tuscaroras.com forum that got closed down. Most of us are related one way or another so it's mostly a forum for us all to keep in touch. YOu're welcome to join and check it out if you want.

Thunder Falls

I'm from down south so excuse me if this is a crazy question. What and when is the "Thunder Falls" powwow? Have you already made reference to it? Is it called something else? If not does anyone have any info on this one? Thanks. We'll be at Salamanca (if we can find a room!)

Well, the Thunder Falls Pow Wow is now called the Border Crossing Pow Wow. It will be the weekend before these 2 pow wows. As for getting a room, Google Olean hotels. Olean is a city that is east of Salamanca. Or you might want to TRY the Holiday Inn that is in Salamanca. There might be openings now that the pow wow has changed weekends! Happy Google-ing!(sp?)
