The best thing about this powwow was watching Willow dance. I was sitting in the nosebleeds and almost didn't recognize her. It was beautiful.

She only exhibitioned and it was awesome. I'm glad I came just for that.

I used to think that too.

But then I helped out with a major powwow and learned a little bit about powwow budgeting, in an urban atmosphere.

The facility is the most major expense. I figure for a facility the size of the Denver Colliseum it would run at least $25-30,000 per day. Then you gotta pay extra for the security, risers, sound, chairs, tables, floor covers, poles for identifying the singer's numbers, merchandise, insurance, etc., etc.

Now I have a greater appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes.

Then when the powwows over and you're spent, it's time to clean the place, make sure everyones out of the building, have a post meeting with the committee, discuss the problems that occured and pay the bills.

What'd you think of "Devil Man" taking fifth?

I heard you tore it pretty bad Saturday night or was that all rumor?

I figured you'd be back by the Boozer's place that weekend, Young Turd was ALL there tearin' it.

Kinda got rugged late Friday night there....but, dang, I was too damned tired from the drive and all the sleep depravation to even worry or be bothered by the noise.

How was it for you?

..oh yeah. We kept gettin' lost!! Devil-man got us lost like four times.....twice we ended up going WAY outta Denver, East and West......all cause he couldn't remember where Boulder was at!!

it's not like the rez u have to pay for everything like insurance, renting the building, Security,pay concession employee's,porters,ushers. If the pow wow goes over the time it is supposed to end you have to pay extra.

i wrote a letter to the pow wow asking the same questions and this is what i was told.
