Dancing Pains

I danced this past weekend for whole whole day, don't think I missed any intertribals or exhibitions, or public invite dances, but anyways, I was starting to hurt towards the middle of the day, but I pushed harder and harder, I mean, I do dance jingle, and I had a lot of praying and healing to do for everyone. Well come Sat. night, I could barely walk, and figured well lets sleep it off, I'll be allright........... HA!!!
I woke up Sunday could barely move, and was ready to cry I was in sooooooo much pain. I even forgot my knee braces...... I was hurting BAD!!!
My question to you all...... what do you take or what special exercises do you do to get and keep in shape to prevent this??? My mom told me to with my heel on the floor, press down on my toes with them against the wall, I do feel that but I mean, the lower back, thighs ( felt like I had been suker punched, what do they call it.... oh a charlie horse), knees, calfs, heck even my toes were swollen!!! LOL!! What do you do?

You weren't lying about being swollen lol. I got home and took a shower and my legs, ankles, and toes were swollen. I'd like to attribute that to not dancing for a while and then jumping into it. I think once you get used to it, it won't be so bad. I try to go walking or do some cardio at home to stay in shape but I'm slacking off

Hi there,

I'm not a jingler but dance fancy shawl and have had many mondays where I had to "ski" across te floor to get around.
I find that daily stretching helps keep the calves, back and feet limber. And do these before and after a work out or dance session. I used to have a lousy back, but with weight training (squats) my back hasnt had many problems and my thighs are much stronger.
Eating a banana seems to help with cramping along with a nice soak in a warm tub.

Havent come up witha any solutions for sore bunions yet :(

1hothooha is an unknown quantity at this point
your mucles could be dehydrated, my friend who dances says she takes and drinks tonic water at powwow all day long. also, lots of water and powerade. no soda pop cuz it dehydrates you more. hope this helps you!
