First let me say that Im sorry that all this was done the way that it was and it still saddens me to know that even now we as people try to hurt each other in the ways that we do.We have enough outsiders that are more then happy to do that for us.To answer Wind question.......yes the woman was removed and is not connected with any of the organizers there, she nor her husband will be allowed at the grounds.
The ones who have taken over have been in contact with the elders here in the area and have taken the steps to make things right.I have spoken to them myself and believe that the ones over the powwow now knew very little of what was going on.We as a drum dont see why alot of people need to suffer over the stupidity of 2 so we are going to still honor our contract and drum this powwow. If you have any more questions wind in hair I will be glad to answer them if I can. 50 years ago you rarely seen mixed nations in the same dance cirle or sitting on each others drums, shareing family stories. There is a man out west that ive never seen or met but he calls one night at my sisters over christmas and gifts us with these stories, stories unlike any ive heard and I wanted to learn them,50 years ago he may have said no but he said he would teach them to me.Things like that is what seperates us as human beings from the rest of the world,Those actions is what makes us brothers and sisters.just something to think about! peace |

It looks like a Final Resolution is going down
I did some more checking on this situation. The powwow comittee has resolved most of their problems. They have removed the offending partys from the powwow comittee. The drum is now happy with the results that the powwow has done to make things right and will drum at the powwow as host. The sound company owners are willing to bring in a nice sound system with more then enough power to handle the powwow. I have talked with many people over this situation and has cost me a lot of time and money on long distance phone calls. I have not contacted the new powwow comittee as of yet. However I have talked to the other people comcerned including the drum, sound company, and elders in the area. All are in agreement to try to make this powwow one of the best in the area.
I will take the time to come from ND to see this powwow. I may even dance their circle. I invite all of you to stop in and enjoy. |

Apology to All Elders and Members of Powwows.com
I told myself that I would not come back on here but my spirit will not rest until I say just one more thing: To all the Elders and the members of powwows.com; I wish to make a very humble apology for bothering you with a problem that was decided and I thought settled. I was wrong to bring this into the open for all to see. To Jim Standingbear and the wolfcreek singers: I did not intend to make you look bad - I was only trying to explain that our money was short and we could not afford what you were asking. At the time the contract was signed; I did not know that we did not have the support of the local businesses. So therefore I humbly ask that given the stress I have been under with my husband's lung cancer that I and my husband be forgiven. I have caused much harm for our community and that was not my intention. I stepped down from the pow wow committee for the benefit of all concerned. But to be banded from a pow wow that I have spent months putting together and much of my own funds in doing so is wrong. I hope that everyone here will accept this apology in the spirit it is given. You will no longer be bothered by myself on this or any other pow wow. AHO! |

Sincere? Honestly I can't believe you.

Hmmmm, I go away for a couple days and come back and here is this. Morningrain, you come here and say you are embarassed and are very sorry for what you have done. Then you begin to bring attention to your troubles. I have been researching all the prinicples involved in this whole mess. You never mentioned to the good people here that you double booked your host drum spot, when one did not move fast enough for your liking (as if people sit at home and wait with baited breath to get mail and send it right back. We would all be more broke than we already are). You never mentioned many things, only how you were victimized. How about how you writing to other people involved in this event, and complaining about Wolf Creek Singers. Shall I go forth with more information? Like your husbands Ebay head dress???? I have talked with some elders from the Comanche Nation. They know nothing of your husband. There has been no naming for your husband by any of the Comanche People. Nor have they bestowed the Title of Chief to him. Your plea for pity needs to cease! Unfortunately you only make things worse for yourself each time you contact one of the principles in the matter or post false apologies. I know about your situations in the Hill Country. Yes like I said I have done my research. I state here that I also know about your husbands threats to people involved. About being banned. If I would have come into such a public place and done what you have done, I would not expect to be welcomed in many places. Does this suprise you? I have prayed to the ancestors to heal you and your husband for the anger that sits within your hearts. You are confused children. You seek to walk in a way that is truly not your correct path. A leader leads by example not by mouth. Greed for recognition buries your heart even deeper. There are many people whom you have wounded and attacked. You owe them more than just words that are empty on this board. If you speak you must speak the truth and from the heart. Remember this, not all are blind. I am not the only one who has looked deeper into this situation, and discovered much. The people who read this forum come from many walks of life, many ethnic backgrounds. Some people come here to learn, others come to find out where the next powwow is to get together with friends or to see where a drum they like is. Indian Country has read your words, before you snuck in the middle of the night to remove those words as if erasing them could make this all go away. The principle parties other than yourself and your husband are working to make things right and heal the injuries. Many people will watch you and your husband to see what you do. especially when all the others are showing honorability and good hearts by working together. You need to step away and let this heal, then you need to pray and talk to some elders to help you find a way to make an apology to all those involved whom you have not been honest, kind, or fair with. I will close this for now, as I have just come in from the road and am tired. I was hoping to see good words here instead of what I have found. Hau |

FRYBREAD....good words well spoken, and yes i do need some popcorn. as a matter of fact when i got into this i did get up and grab my smokes and a coke i have no pitty on morning what ever and feel that there was no need to apologize, and the fact the she did and had to mention that she stepped down......hmmm was it not said that she was removed and now she wants it to look like she has enough respect to step down. coming on here and saying i am sorry and you will not hear from me again is a little woe is me, and kinda like calling someone to tell them you do not want to talk to them anymore. just go we really do not care.

Comitted to this Powwow
I'm not sure what to think of all these posts. Anyway, we have agreed to provide the sound system for the powwow. The new powwow comittee is wonderful to work with. We do not have a lot of the details like the size of the circle yet but, we are planning on having 10,000 watts worth of power amps ready to use.
So come on down to Olive Hill Ky. in late April to dance the circle. "Hear the Voice and Feel the Drum" It's Our Way! http://www.freewebs.com/tkmj-productions Bring the popcorn and frybread. This is going to be a great powwow!!!!! Last edited by TKMJ Productions; 02-28-2006 at 11:35 PM. Reason: url not working |

Whats Next?
A friend of mine told me about this thread so I had to see what was going on,Ive been in this area for some time now and ive seen alot of things that make ya go hmmmmmmm.Ive seen this drum at more then one powwow and I knew when I read this that they would do the right thing,as far as the powwow commity goes its good to know they also are makeing things right, there are alot of good people in this area however........When are the real issues in the area going to be dealt with?
What I am talking about is the fact we have an all womens drum here that is doing nothing but causing havoc, they think that drumming on their moon time is ok so long as no one knows about it,What about an Ojib elder that sits back and does nothing when all this is going on and will damn near put any woman in a jingle dress if she asks. This is only the tip of the iceburg and i know that not every thing can get cleared up at one time but dont you think its time to at least make an effort in putting an end to this kinda B.S? Maybe nothing has been done because it wasnt public knowledge so now it is!The issue with the drum and the powwow commity has been handled and every thing is ok between the 2 parties involved,So let it be and deal with the real issues at hand.We as Indian people live by strong traditions and beliefs yet we look past wrong doings from white people tring to be indians, they have no clue so they make up their own rules to justify what they are doing,In doing this they step on the true traditions pasted down to us from our grandfathers and grandmothers and yet no one does nothing but look the other way.Is this the indian way that my grandfather spoke about? Im sure Indian country is going to hear alot more on some of the things ive mentioned here and I am also sure that there will be alot of feathers getting ruffled when the names of the ones ive spoke of comes out but I will not be the one who puts the names up here,However if you want to know i will tell you in Im.the ones involved know That im talking about them for I am sure they are keeping track of whats said. I for one am done with the B.S Its time to start cleaning this place up and that exactly what alot of us are makeing plans to do. Peace.....Aho |

I so far away, Czazna. Can't do nothing.
I wish you well in what you must do. The original issue has been dealt with, but... as you can see other issues come up and goes on and on. People should just leave powwowing up to ........... us? Yeah. |

mess
I would like to thank everyone for all the help they have been over the last week. Our group was told that Wolfcreek were difficult to deal with, I have not found this to be so. They have been very friendly and helpful. Windinhair, I would be honored to shake your hand, let alone have you in our circle. Frybread, know that if you're ever in this part of KY you have a place to stay. Now, the hard part. I need to to clarify on morning stepping down. She called and threw everything in our lap and declined any further association with the powwow. In an attempt to save what face she may have had left, I said she had been removed, as she had by her own actions. I did not intend on misleading anyone and want to clarify this piont at the risk of destroying the fragile trust that has started to grow between this community and myself. After dumping this on my husband and I, morning's husband has now disavowed any connection with the KY Regional Native Community. We are on our own. My husband and I will not let this powwow fail. It may not be the most professional, but it will be the best we can do and from the heart thanks to all the kind assistance we have recived here.
I'm not so good at making frybread but if anyone wants popcorn, all you have to do is ask. |

Miigwetch
Quote:
just wanted to say miigwetch any way ! This is something that the people here will be able to deal with, just a matter of doing it without hurting people that are not involved. What needs to be understood is that if we let this continue any longer then our true traditions will die and I for one wont stand still and let that happen ! There are alot of people that are not happy about me being back in this are because I know alot of truths that they would like to keep buried. One thing for sure is its gonna get really wild around here for a little while but by the end of this year every thing will be DEALT with I just hate it has to be done the way it does.
