Called the powwow hotline today and left a message- the woman who called me back said there will be specials Thurs. but they aren't annoucing them in advance Points for regular contest start Fri. Safe travels everyone!!

I just called and they have no clue what's going on. They told me that there are no specials at Schemitz. Spoke to Donna. have a feeling it's gonna be a looooooooong pw.

This powwow seems to get longer and longer each year... yet less and less goes on. I use to love when they had it at the Civic Center in Hartford. There was always so much going on and the staff organizing things seemed to be right on the ball. Things have changed.

I finally got myself a hotel room this year because last year I couldn't sleep because of the people partying. Sad thing is, the people partying were a bunch of the security staff (off duty of course). Ugh.

Taani- yes they seem to be real unorganized. My mom had originally called, pressed 2 or whatever to speak to a "schemitzun representative", who was an older lady who said there were no specials, and that "you have to pay just like every day". My mom realized that the woman thought she meant special prices/discounts on admission, so my mom clarified she meant special contests, and the lady didn't know. So I called back a few days later, left a message, and that's when I got a return call about these TBA specials. Who knows what that means- except that yes, it'll prob be a long powwow...

Yea. I started going when it was held at the Civic Center too and I agree it was better then. I remember they used to have some really good Native entertainers, musicians, comedians etc. too! I saw "Litefoot" perform there one year. That was fun.
