I am hoping several midwest people will see this and respond...

I went to the National Powwow in Indiana a while back and there was this northern drum from Ohio(?) called the Hugebecks.

When they set up, I wasn't expectin' too much as they reminded me of the Gatlin Bros' Band in how they looked and dressed.

They sang primarily Lakota traditional songs and did a decent job as host drum.

Are they still together?

Do they still set up?

Hugebeck is still pretty much intact. They are singing under "Mackenzie River" last I heard. If you see them listed, you are guaranteed at least one decent drum.

I don't know if there has been a New Year's dance in Richmond. I know some of the people involved, and they are nice folks. Bear in mind where you are, then go. It may not be what you are used to, but you will more than likely be treated very well.
