It's like they start and end their ceremony/dance rituals during the powwow break.
What about the Gourd Dancers? They start and end the gourd sessions before the processional of dancers and participate in the processional of dancers.

If one believes in equal representation, all native people are welcome to participate in the "grand entry". Just my 2-cents ... not out to pick on anyone.

I guess you can say that if you draw boundaries around you, but the last time I checked, the Aztec are native people from Central America and there are native people in South America, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada as well.

Nope actually they were from Mexico, NOT Central America. The moderen day Mexico City, DF was once the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan.

They do their thing during pur break.

North America occupies the northern portion of the landmass generally referred to as the New World, the Western hemisphere, the Americas, or simply America. North America's only land connection is to South America at the narrow Isthmus of Panama. (For geopolitical reasons, all of Panama – including the segment east of the Panama Canal in the isthmus – is often considered a part of North America alone.)

According to some authorities, North America begins not at the Isthmus of Panama but at the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, with the intervening region called Central America (or Middle America if the Caribbean is included) and resting on the Caribbean Plate. Before the Central American isthmus was raised, the region had been underwater. The islands of the West Indies delineate a submerged former land bridge, which had connected North America and South America via Florida.

I was going to say in all my classes I have never heard that. But that's not the point. The point is, I don't think they should be included in Grand Entry. They did their own grand entry thing if you ever watched them or had some of the dances explained. I have friend who used to dance as she was from DF, and she said she never felt right about dancing in a grand entry, because they did their last song and ended it for her.
Anyway, I guess you don't believe Central American, North American line that you posted.

why should this matter to you what I think?

The last thing I'm going to post about this is that if you or anyone else don't agree what happens during grand entry, then complain to the powwow committee ... or go somewhere else until grand entry is over.

It was explained to us a long time ago that powwows are intertribal and so they'd be happy if we could join in. When we are asked, we partake.
Our family in particular though, doesn't ask to be involved in Grand Entries not out of offense but rather out of respect... our traditions and customs when it comes to dancing are a bit different and we always try to take care not to offend anyone especially the elders.
And judging from what Rachel196 posts, there are some who do have issues with it? But Rachel 196, what u have to keep in mind is that it is the Arena Director who arranges the different dance categories in line for Grand Entry... not us.
Yup, my family had issues with the arena director. The lineup was all out of whack, they might have all came in at once. I missed it on Sunday, but Saturday night wasn't good. Along with that there was someone where with a sundance skirt on!
My friend had the same thoughts as you, especially since she was half Pomo and half Mexican from D.F.

Maybe the arena director wasn't wearing his colorful vest during the grand entry on Saturday Evening, eh?
