I figured they did that. I was very disappointed when they didn't set up for the evening portion of the event when I thought I would hear them sing, but they were gone like a flash. I don't know know what the committee did with the empty motel rooms!

Youngbird did a fantastic job with the gourd dance songs and serving as southern host during the evening. Two other southern drums were in attendance as well (Red Star and Straight-Up!).

That was a very good turn out in Gallup. A lot of gourd dancing in the afternoon.

The Cozad family did a excellent job of explaining the significance of the Kiowa Gourd Dance. They Kiowa Nation had good representation during the gourd dance session.

However, I was a bit appalled that the Mayor of Gallup didn't show as usual. No one from the Navajo Nation President's Office was there either, but there were a lot of Native people from the American Indian Nations of New Mexico and Arizona.
